I'm Ready For Fall

 I love Autumn.

Look back at previous posts or my tumblr and you'll realize this.

Yes, I still have a tumblr.

Hell, look at my wedding photos and you'll realize this.

Last weekend we had a thunder storm, they never happen where I live by the way, it was awesome.

Then it was rainy for a few days and I loved it.

I would come home from work and turn the fairy lights on right away and watch a couple episodes of Gilmore Girls to unwind with a glass of red wine (the perfect evening).

Yes, I know it's August.

I love Summer too, believe me I do, but sometime in mid-August it always gets to me...Fall is coming and I just can't wait.

We don't even have that great of Autumns here, not like other places, but I still love it.

So much that two of my 4 weeks of vacation happen during September and October this year.

I always take the first or second week of September off, usually the week after Labour Day and I decorate for Fall and make a bunch of meals to freeze. It's just cozy and relaxing to me.  Usually my husband is away working at this time so I get to play housewife which I enjoy as well.  Two weeks until my vacation starts, I think it's why I feel so cozy and autumnal right now.

I am dying to go to HomeSense to see if they have Autumn decor out, but honestly I have a hard time going there right now.  I wear a mask all day at work and I just find it hard to go somewhere and where a mask on my day off and after a day of work I don't really go anywhere.  My husband and I go get groceries once a week right now and they are just starting mandatory masks at most places now and I just find it hard. I know that sounds stupid. I wear one and other ppe for seven hours a day at work and it's a relief to take it all off at the end of the day and have two days where I don't have to wear it.  It fucking sucks to wear it.  People complain about wearing a mask into a store for say an hour or so, what about nurses who have to wear it for a ten/twelve hour shift?  I only wear it for seven hours, constantly talking to people, running around with 1-2 hour wait times and it's hard.  It's hot wearing a mask, gown and face shield, and overall just difficult to communicate with people.  Not to mention screening one to two hundred patients who yell at you for asking them if they've had cold or flu symptoms etc.

Okay, now I'm just ranting.

I need to stop.

I am ready for Fall but at the same time I am not.  Covid restrictions are most likely going to get worse going into cold and flu season and for that I am not ready.

Anyone else ready for the Fall feelings and decor?

My Wedding Day Makeup

I am finally getting around to this!
I was lucky on our wedding day, my sister-in-law did my makeup and hair and it was amazing.  She also planned our entire wedding. Amazing woman overall.
I had all the make up we used (minus the eyelashes), because I'm an addict and even bought a specific blush for the day.
I love blush.  I just bought two more.  One day, soon, I'll do a blush post.

Of course I did my skin care first:
Shiseido eye masks-these are a holy grail for me, especially before any event.
Make P:rem micro tension cream-I love this stuff but it's becoming harder for me to find ever since GlowRecipe stopped selling it, luckily I hoarded a few of them.
Shiseido eye cream
Biore Sunscreen- This sunscreen works amazing for my skin. It has a strong alcohol scent but it disappears pretty quick. I actually just bought 3 back ups of this the other day.

If I remember correctly I used three primers on the big day:
VDL Lumilayer primer- great for glowy glass skin
Tatcha Silk Canvas- Great for smoothing out my skin. I save this for special occasions. I love Tatcha products.
Tarte Timeless Smoothing Primer- I used this in my t-zone where my pores are most prominent just for some extra smoothness/filling
Becca Under-eye brightening correcter in light-medium- I have been buying this for years now and I've only gone through three or four jars of it. I hope they never stop making this.
Wet 'N Wild Mega Cushion Color Correcter in Peach- If you couldn't tell already, I love a bright under eye.  Not going to lie. . .I have about 6 back ups of this in fear that they'll discontinue it like L'ancome discontinued theirs.  I can't say enough good things about this.  Sometimes I will go without concealer and just wear this for the day with a bit of blush.
Surprisingly I wore foundation but not concealer on the big day.  But funny story, the foundation we used I use every day as my concealer.
Laneige BB Cushion Hydra Radiance in Porcelain- This is my every day concealer, it's so natural and glowy, I love it.  If I need extra coverage I will add a dab of something on top, but that's rare as I just love how this looks.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused Light- I feel like this is just a list of my holy grails as I've repurchased this powder quite a few times as well.  It's not heavy, makes everything look blurred and it lasted from about 11am-2am the next day.  The foundation and this powder are a great combo for me.
For contour and blush we used Charlotte Tilbury.  The Filmstar Bronze & Glow in fair/medium was a spur of the moment purchase on my birthday a few years ago and has been a favorite ever since.  The bronzer is a perfect shade for my skin tone.  I bought the Cheek to Chic blush in Pillow Talk a few weeks before the day, I just couldn't say no to color.
Then for highlight I had to use my Dior Nude Luminizer 001, had to.  I love Dior.  I bought the luminizer a couple years ago during a Sephora sale as I had been eyeing it up for a long time.  When we did my trial run for makeup a gold-ish Maybelline highlight was used, which was pretty but gold didn't suit my skin tone and then I remembered that beautiful Dior one that I save for special occasions and it was a perfect fit.  I'll be honest, the shade 001 freaked me out a bit at first as it looks so gold online but it's actually a beautiful nude shade and great for my yellow undertone.
Another Dior product, the brow styler in universal dark brown.  I love how simple this pencil is, one cap, a great spoolie and the product just twists up.  This shade is perfect for me, absolutely perfect.  It's a bit pricey for what it is but it works so great.
Fun fact, I've taken apart the pencil before and there is little product waste left in the little holder thing inside once you get to 'the end' of it.

The eye makeup.  We went with the palette that, oddly enough, screams romance to me: Urban Decay's Naked3 palette.  I feel like we neutral-pink for the look and the darker tones in the palette were less harsh than a black.
For inner corner highlight we used my all time favorite eye shadow, Stila's Kitten.
I've tried rewriting what I want to write about this eye shadow and I have no words. I love this to death and, in my eyes, no eye shadow will ever be better than it.  It is the most perfect creamy, nude, champagne color and the texture is like butter.

I'm pretty sure we used Ardell wispies.  I'm not going to link them as I'm not 100% sure they were the wispies or not.  For someone who never wears lashes, these were surprisingly comfortable for the 14 hours I wore them.
Over top we put a little bit of Nars Climax mascara, just to blend everything together.  I tend to be more of a length than volume person when it comes to mascara and I find this does both very well.  I usually hate volume because it comes out so clumpy, but this is great for volume without the clumps.

For the lips I bought options as I wasn't sure what I wanted to wear, but in the end I went with a Buxom duo that came out for the holidays.  The Buxom Plumpline Lip Liner in Incognito is a great your lips but better nude shade for my lips and I love it to line the lips or wear over the entire lip.  On my wedding day I wore it as a lip liner and over top I wore the Full On Plumping Lip Polish in Dolly. It's such a great neutral, mauve color and I felt like you could only tell I had something on my lips because they were glossy.  I personally love a glossy look over a matte one, but I tend to have dry lips.

The perfume I wore was Maison Margiela Replica By the Fireplace.
It is my favorite scent ever, especially in Autumn, so it was perfect for our October wedding.

And that is everything!
The whole day was more than I ever imagined it would be and looking back on it I wouldn't change a thing.

I Love Autumn

This is not new news.
It's the first day of October, it's foggy and rainy outside, the leaves are falling onto my driveway.

But I'm sad.

My Love is away working and I have no one to share the joy with.
Normally we would be out for walks, going to the corn maze, picking pumpkins, browsing the farmer's market etc.
It's not the same alone, it's not even the same with someone in place of him.
It sucks.

It's my favorite time of year and it's his busy time at work.
I hate to whine because I know a lot of people have to do this, it just doesn't get easier.

So to celebrate the first day of October I have on this cozy sweatshirt, I'm going to go buy candles and have coffee with my Mom, then tidy my house and make it cozy.  Then I'll play some video games, read a book and eventually settle down with a glass of red wine, a bowl of chili and watch "The Resident".

Fuck.
I miss my dude.

I'm browsing all the cozy Autumn pictures on Tumblr, here's the link to mine.
My tumblr has changed from health and fitness to whatever to Autumn.

Today might be a good day to watch "You've Got Mail".

Oh and go listen to my new favorite song, "Two Punks In Love" by Bulow.

Happy October! Enjoy!

Autumn is Almost Here!

It's finally September!!
If only you could see me now, I am in my element.
I've had the past week off and I've been cooking, lots, drinking wine (of course) while I cook, had the Autumn playlist on, lit the candles, decorated the house etc.
You know, all things Autumn.

I love this cozy time.
I am used to the rain where I live, but there is something about a sunny Fall day that just *sigh*, it gets me.
It's raining out right now, I have wonton soup simmering, and a glass of wine by my side.  It's been an almost perfect day.
My Love is still at work, but will be home soon.  I love being a housewife when I'm not working, is that weird?

I finished reading one of my favorite Fall reads again, "Prettygirl13" by Liz Coley.  I don't want to say what it's about because it'll give way too much away but I love it and I reread it every year at least once.
It's hard to believe Canadian Thanksgiving is only a month away now!  Thanksgiving rivals Christmas for me.  I love Christmas, but sometimes it gets a little stressful, where Thanksgiving is just cook and eat.  I love to eat.

Have you guys been watching any Autumn movies?
Not gonna lie, I start watching Autumn themed movies in August.
I've watched "Hocus Pocus" a few times, it's one of my favorite movies in general though.  My birthday is in March and at my seventh birthday my parents put it on to calm me down, as I was overwhelmed, and to distract the other kids.
I finally watched "Autumn in New York" and "The Dead Poet's Society", I really enjoyed them both and will add them to the Fall rotation.
Other Autumn movies I've watched, in list form because that is my way:
-"You've Got Mail"
-"Practical Magic"
-"Coraline"
-"October Kiss" (twice, I'm addicted)
-"Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets"
and then I of course have been into "Gossip Girl" like every Fall and then I just finished "Summer Camp Island"...which not very Autumnal but still put me in the mood.
Last night I went and saw "The Nun", I really liked it but my mom found it boring...so you'll have to figure that one out on your own.

Leave me some Autumn movies/tv shows to watch down below and I will for sure check them out.

Time Still Passes

I can't believe September is almost over.  I feel like it was the quickest month yet, but also the loneliest. . .so far.
My dude has been working away.  He was home for about four days before leaving again a week ago.  This time is longer.

He doesn't even work away as long as some people's partners do, but I find that I get stuck inside my head and just land in a dark place.
We're getting closer to buying a house and my greatest fear is being left alone in a whole house with just my thoughts.  So I need to get some hobbies.
Any suggestions?

I recently went to the Etsy market in the mall and it was amazing, people are so creative and brave to put themselves out there.  I struggle to do that.
I like to make birthday cards, but I am not willing to put myself out there to sell them that makes me feel nauseous.

I've been watching lots of movies and t.v. and am getting excited for new seasons of Stranger Things, This is Us, South Park and The Exorcist.
But no Stranger Things spoilers please, I have to wait to watch it until my boy gets home.
It premieres on October 27th, and yes I did take the 28th off in anticipation of the binge and also it's my man's birthday.

If anyone has any tv or movie watching suggestions please leave them below!

I Have A Thing For Autumn

I know I am kind of all over the place with my blog and just can't seem to pin point the right name, I say this because I'm going off the topic of skinscare & such (my current blog name, in case it changes in the future).

I have a deep love for Autumn.
I'm not sure if I've mentioned that before, but as we're nearing the end of August I am getting giddy.  We're talking Christmas Eve kind of giddy, I know I'm weird.

The past two days I have spent browsing Autumn decor online, burning Fall candles and composing the ultimate playlist.
Oh, and watching 'Hocus Pocus' and 'You've Got Mail', two of my favorite movies for the season. . .let's be honest, I watch them year round.

I've also been busy cleaning my home and making it more simple.  I like simplicity, a lot, but I have so much clutter and I have a thing about making piles.  So I am going through my clothes and books and donating whatever I haven't worn in the past couple months or books I'm just not interested in anymore.
It's like Spring cleaning, but an Autumn de-clutter.  I think I just made that up.

During my vacation in two weeks, when it's officially September (insert excited squeal here), I will dig out my Fall box (yes I have one, just like I do Christmas decorations) and start decorating.

I tend to blog a lot more in Fall, so here's what you can expect from me:
-Pictures, lots of cozy, Autumn pictures
-Outfit post
-Autumn activities like the corn maze and farmer's market
-A post about all my favorites candles
-Autumn playlist
-Baking, I love to bake in the cooler months

And if you can think of anything else you'd like to see, just leave a comment below.
Have a great week!

Getting Lost

Hello Lovelies!
I hope your October is off to a wonderful start!  The weather here in B.C. has been absolutely amazing lately, therefore we had to take advantage of it of course.

This past weekend, while I did have to work, was one for the books.
Boyfriend and I headed out to a local farm and tackled the corn maze, while I can't say we were successful at finding all the check points as after an hour the heat was too much, we had a blast.
We even came home with a giant pumpkin from the pumpkin patch!

What Fall things have you gotten up to?
Enjoy your week!

A Beautiful Weekend

Hello Lovelies!
Sorry for being a piss poor blogger.

It's awfully hard to work full time, blog, unwind and go out and about.
So I've decided to vlog on the weekends (I'll shamelessly promote my youtube channel at some point), Saturdays or Sundays and possibly a day throughout the week if I get one off.
As for other videos, there's no way for me to plan a schedule for that at the moment as I have no time for it.  That makes me sad, I have fun filming and editing but there's just no extra time.
I get home from work between four and five thirty (on good days) and then there's the matter of showering, making lunch, visiting family etc. By then it's seven o'clock and I'm ready for bed.

But I didn't come on here to make excuses or complain (which I just did both in the above paragraph).
Today has been wonderful, last weekend was too!
Last weekend I was quite the little shopper:

That shopping trip was a big deal, I don't normally buy that much at once. Think of the savings!

So far this Saturday we have been up at the ungodly hour of 7am (that's unheard of from me on a day off) and by nine we were out the door headed to the Farmer's Market a couple towns over.
It is my favorite market on the island and I go there specifically for coffee beans.
It is the best coffee I have ever tasted (so far) and if you live in British Columbia, I'm sure I could give you the details on where to find it.
We also bought our favorite jalapeno cheese sourdough bread, and a new try of bacon chive sourdough bread (amazing!)

Nathan found a beeswax candle shaped like a pine cone and it smells wonderful. I wish I had pictures of everything to show you!  Then tried a vendor's pulled pork sandwich and some bought some venison jerky from another.
Next time I will remember bags and hopefully buy some fresh vegetables and my favorite almond croissant that I decided against today as I already had a croissant for breakfast.

Good thing I took a picture of the concord grapes because they're all gone now :)
Enjoy the weekend and I hope wherever you live it's as nice as it has been here!

Monday Morning

I know, I know I've been a terrible blogger lately.
I really did have a good Friday Five lined up (I'll save it for this week) but I ended up working Monday to Friday and in the evening I had no brain power to blog.
But I have ideas and I've been vlogging this weekend so we'll see if I find time to edit that.

I'm finding it quite difficult to blog/vlog while working full time. I can see how being a blogger could be a full time job.

I have lots to share soon! I'm quite excited about it.
I have an Autumn Lookbook in the works [Oh my gosh, if anyone watches "Witches of East End" let's talk about this latest episode. I'm just watching the end now.]

The leaves have finally started to change color around here, usually it happens at the end of August but it was definitely late this year. I'm hoping to hit up my favorite farmers market soon, the corn maze will be starting up and definitely everything pumpkin and apple flavored will be baked.

I recently showed some of my Fall decor and well....I bought more candles and found more stored in my closet (video to be posted soon)

Just thought I would do a quick I am still here, I promise! I've just been busy post.

Have a lovely week and talk to you soon.

Fall Decorating

Well folks, Fall is less than a month away now and September is in 3 days.
So in anticipation for Fall I'm reorganizing and decorating!
This is all the Fall stuff I've collected over the past year. And there's more in boxes but that's mostly baking things.
Starting from the left is a candy corn candle I got from Pier One, they're only a buck so I need to get more. It's probably the best smelling candle. In the back is a vase that I filled with plastic fall jewels from Michaels and then just some fake leave tucked in there. And an owl candle I found at HomeSense that I don't want to burn.
A few Bath and Body Works candles from a sale they had this summer, Autumn Day, Harvest Coffee and Pumpkin Cupcake.
This wooden pumpkin is from Michaels and the candle beside it is vanilla and it's from Homesense.
Here's a close up of the little pumpkin charm on the vanilla candle. I want to make a necklace out of it.
Some more Bath & Body Works candles (Pumpkin Apple, Farmstand Apple and a mini Autumn Day), the mini pumpkin candle holder is also from there.

I'm in the middle of trying to make some artwork for Fall but it's not going so well, so I'm sure I'll be making another trip to Michaels soon.

While all this has been going on I've been playing movies and tv shows that remind me of Fall like "Hocus Pocus", "Gilmore Girls" and "You've Got Mail".

I'm still working on tomorrows five but there will be one.
Enjoy the long weekend!

A Little Catching Up

I missed this Friday Five, next week's will be special then.  Somehow.
It's been a stressful week.
I had to do some travel for work which makes for long days, my boyfriend and I each had a family member in the hospital, and my brother's place was broken in to.
And I'm generally just an anxious person, so there's that too.

I really wish I had more exciting things to share.
Boyfriend and I only get one day together and we don't do too much.
Our Sundays consist of me sleeping in, then maybe wandering the mall, and then we tend to lay in bed the rest of the day.
Today was more exciting though but I am exhausted now.
Boyfriend and I went to the diner to have breakfast, then his mom and I shopped for home decor/Fall stuff.
I only bought some stamps from Michaels, as I've been Fall shopping for a couple weeks now.

On my day off I'll try to get a haul post done.

I'd really like to start working out again, but I am so pooped lately.
I did find out my thyroid medication was a little too high, so that could be the reason for the no energy and more anxious than usual feeling.

Well, as the leaves start changing and the cooler air begins to take over I'm sure you'll see more pictures from me.
I just love Autumn.

Have a lovely week!

Soon To Be Bath & Body Works Haul

Autumn is on it's way.
I say this and it's not even August yet.
But I am a Fall lover and that means spending my pay check at Bath and Body Works.
I've been browsing their site lately and thought I would share some things that looked intriguing to me.

I am not big on cinnamon smells, but the pumpkins on this cinnamon pumpkin wallflower...
And I love their apple candles I picked up last year, so this green apple orchard one might be good too..
Anything vanilla works for me..
Sea salt? Maple? and Popcorn? I'm there.

How can you not be intrigued by a name like Harvest Gathering? It's supposed to smell of  red apple, cinnamon leaf and cranberry.  The cinnamon throws me off, I hope the apple scent is strong.
These are just so simple looking! This one is called Autumn and I think I'm going to enjoy it. The scents are pomegranate, apple and fig.

This one is odd, but I'm curious.

I feel my pay check slowly disappearing and I haven't even received it yet.
This one has hints of caramel, apple and vanilla. I'm sold 100% on this one.
And this owl needs to be adopted.
The hand soaps are on sale, and just look at the sleeves!
There's an apple scentportable! now even my car can smell like Fall!
I don't apologize for being too excited but I do apologize for being too excited at six in the morning.
I think I know where I'm headed after work today.

Have a lovely week!
Can you believe it's August in two days?
